Purpose and Scope
As part of our commitment to innovation and the ongoing improvement of our products and services, Cato Networks periodically improves the Cato Client to deliver enhanced capabilities, security updates, and improved user experience. This End-of-Support (EOS) Policy defines the process and timelines for retiring Cato Clients while ensuring a smooth upgrade to supported new versions. With these improvements over time, customers benefit from innovation without compromising operational continuity, maintaining a predictable and disruption-free experience throughout the lifecycle transition.
This Client EOS Policy (“Policy”) establishes the lifecycle that Cato Networks applies to the Cato Client distributed to end users across supported device operating systems. It also defines the customer’s responsibilities that apply once a version reaches the EOS date.
Scope
Cato Client EOS Policy
Cato Clients are supported for 1 year from the date of release. Upon release of a new Client version, Cato Networks will publish the EOS date. Supported Clients benefit from bug fixes, security updates, and are eligible for Cato technical support.
However, if there's a critical issue with a Client version, the EOS date can be shorter than 1 year. In this case an email notification will be sent to customers as early as possible.
Upon reaching the EOS date, the Cato Client is no longer eligible for technical support, bug fixes, or security updates for that version. Customers opening Support tickets regarding that Client version might be instructed to upgrade to a supported version first.
Cato cannot guarantee that the Client versions that have reached EOS will continue to operate as intended, including connectivity. Additionally, security issues found in Client versions that are no longer supported might not be fixed. In such cases, customers are responsible for any issues that arise from running unsupported Client versions.
Therefore, customers are responsible for making sure they are running only supported versions of the Cato Client. Cato Networks recommends following the latest release on all supported operating systems and encourages customers to set the upgrade policy to “Automatic by Cato” (located on the Client Rollout page, learn more here).
Customers can view which versions of the Client are currently in use in their account in the Access Overview Dashboard or on the Events Discovery page.
Platform Compatibility
Cato publishes a compatibility matrix for Cato Client versions and supported device operating systems in the Cato Knowledge Base. Cato does not guarantee that Cato Client will remain functional on operating systems that have themselves reached end-of-life or end of support with their respective vendors.
Policy Updates
Cato may update this Policy at any time by updating the policy article published in the Cato Knowledge Base.
