Identifying your License Model

Overview

There are two Cato account licenses: Jan 2027 (Bursting Model) and Jul 2026 (Enforcement Model). The license model configured for your account determines how you manage and apply licenses in the Cato Management Application (CMA).

Admins need to know which license model their account uses, because it impacts how to configure features and manage licensing in the CMA. For example, licensing workflows for remote users and sites differ between models. In the Bursting license model, licenses are managed as separate components and measured by usage. In the Enforcement model, you assign licenses directly to remote users and sites in the CMA.

How to Identify Your License Model

You can identify the license model for your account by the layout and available tabs on the License page.

To identify your license model:

  1. From the navigation menu, click Account > License.
  2. Review the tabs on the License page to identify the license model:
    • There are license summary tabs, such as Base Products and Insights, then your account uses the Bursting licensing model

    • There are license-assignment tabs, such as Bandwidth and Users, then your account uses the Enforcement licensing model
