Product Update - October 18th, 2021

New Features & Enhancements

  • Support for Non-Accelerated VM Instance Type: Cato now supports two types of Azure VM instances for the vSocket: a VM that supports network acceleration (accelerated), and a VM that is non-accelerated.
    • We are gradually releasing this new vSocket image to our customers over the next few weeks.
  • Support for Azure Availability Zones: You can choose to assign the vSocket VMs to Azure Availability Zones. This provides enhanced protection for your applications and data from Azure data center failures. 
    • We are gradually releasing this new vSocket image to our customers over the next few weeks.
  • Changes to Implicitly Bypassed Apps for TLS Inspection: We are enhancing the security in the Cato Cloud, and are planning to inspect apps that were previously excluded from TLS Inspection.
    • There are NO changes for iOS for the following apps, and they will continue to be automatically excluded from TLS Inspection. 
    • Starting on October 17th, the following apps will be inspected by the default TLS Inspection policy:
      • Gmail
      • YouTube
    • Starting on October 31st, the following apps will be inspected by the default TLS Inspection policy:
      • Teams
      • Skype
      • microsoft_office_login
    • Starting on November 14th, the following apps will be inspected by the default TLS Inspection policy:
      • Amazon AWS
    • If there is an issue with one of the above apps, please contact Support and you can configure your TLS Inspection policy to bypass the app. Read more.

Cato SDP Client Releases

  • Windows Client v5.0: Beginning on October 24th, we are planning to start the gradual release of the Windows Client version 5.0. This version includes:
    • Supports user authentication with in-Client browser
    • Improved user experience for re-authentication
    • Performance enhancements and bug fixes
    • Limitations:
      • Windows 8.1 OS is only supported when all the newest Microsoft updates and patches are installed.
      • Automatic Upgrade for Windows Servers is currently not supported. For more information about manually upgrading, read more.
