Solving the Cato Client Upgrade Failures
If you are trying to upgrade the Cato Windows VPN Client and the upgrade fails, these are recommended solutions to help you upgrade the Client to the new version. Start with the first solution, and if the problem continues, go on to the next solution.
- From the Windows command line, reinstall the new VPN client: msiexec /i setup.msi REINSTALL=ALL REINSTALLMODE=vomus
- Uninstall the current VPN client version and then install the new version.
- To make sure that the Client is completely removed from the computer, perform the following steps:
- Check the registry and remove the Cato Client entry. For more about removing the registry key for the Cato Client, see How to uninstall Windows VPN Cato Client via MsiExec exe.
- Check the Windows settings "Apps & Features", if the Cato Client application exists in the list of the installed applications, uninstall it.
- Open Windows Task Manager > Services tab, and check if the CatoNetworksVPNService is listed. If it does, stop and then uninstall the service from the command line.
We also recommend to check and make sure there are no running processes for the Cato VPN Client (also in the Windows Task Manager > Processes tab).
