This article describes Cato's reports that highlight the significant data and information related to different services for your account.
You can generate different types of granular and flexible reports that highlight various aspects of the Cato service that are useful for multiple stakeholders in the organization, from executives to CISO/CIO and IT professionals. You can choose to create scheduled reports that are automatically generated and emailed, or generate a one-time report to download from the Cato Management Application.
Create the template for the Predefined Report with the sites, SDP users, or other items that are included in the report over the defined time range. If you want to download the report, you can generate it, and download the PDF that you can easily share in your organization.
You can create these kinds of Predefined Reports:
-
Scheduled report - A report that is automatically generated and emailed to the Mailing List on a daily, weekly, or monthly schedule
You can also download the report from the Generated Reports tab.
-
One-Time report - A report that is generated on demand, create the report template and then generate the PDF and download it from the Generated Reports tab
These are the types of reports that you can create for your account:
- Experience Monitoring Reports - see Generating Experience Monitoring Reports
-
XDR Security reports - see Generating an XDR Investigations Report and Generating an XDR Detections Report
-
XDR report for Network stories - see Generating an XDR Network Monitor Report
-
Application analytics report - see Generating an Application Analytics Report
-
Network analytics report - see Generating a Network Analytics Report
-
Security events report - see Generating a Security Events Report
-
Rule hit count report - see Generating Rule Hit Count Reports for Security and Network Policies
-
TLS Inspection report - see Generating a TLS Inspection Report
-
User analytics report - see Generating a User Analytics Report
Scheduled report templates are automatically emailed to the recipients defined in the Mailing List for that report. You can define reports to only show data for certain items (such as specific sites and/or SDP users) and define the frequency that the report is generated. For weekly reports, select the day of the week that the report starts on, for monthly reports, select the day or the first day of the month.
The data for the reports is calculated as of 0:00 UTC. However, sometimes it can take a few hours to generate the PDF and for you to receive the emailed report.
One-Time report templates show the relevant data and information in your account over the time range for the report. You can define reports to only show data for certain items (such as specific sites and/or SDP users) and customize the time range for the report.
By default, the Predefined Report templates show data and information for all sites and SDP users for the past week. The Time Range of the report defines the range of data that is included when you generate the report. For example, if you create and generate a Predefined Report on May 7 to show data for the Last Week, it shows data from May 1 - 7. When you generate this Predefined Report on May 20, it shows data from May 14 - 20, and then you could generate another report on June 10 to show data from June 4 - 10.
If you create a Predefined Report with a custom time range, then the report shows data for that time range when it's generated again.
The maximum Time Range for a report is three months. For example, you can define the start date five months earlier, however the maximum time range of the report is three months after the start date. The start date (From) of the Predefined Report is based on the Data Processing Agreement (DPA) for your account.
Download the Scheduled or One-Time report as a PDF from the Generated Reports tab. For reports with a large amount of data, it make take a few minutes to generate the report. Scheduled reports are In Progress when they are automatically emailed. To download Scheduled reports, generate a new report in the Predefined Reports tab and then download it.
You can use the Reload button to refresh the Generated Reports tab and see if the report is Ready to download.
Admins with viewer permissions are allowed to download reports.
To generate and download the PDF of a report:
-
From the navigation pane, select Monitoring > Reports.
-
From the Predefined Reports tab, find the report template and click Generate.
-
From the Generated Reports tab, find the report and click Download.
-
To delete a Generated or Predefined Report, click the More button and select Delete.

Is there a timeline for the 'scheduling reports to be sent automatically' feature to be released?
I too am interested in automated reports, especially detailing user activity.
I recognise that these reports can contain sensitive information and so perhaps what would be emailed/sent would be a link to the report rather than the report itself as is done with other vendors of security solutions.
Are we assuming the columns Scheduling and Recipients are EA features?
How can we be EA testers?
Yes scheduled reports are very important to a couple of our customers.
Nickolas Hopkins , Stephen Moreau , Matrix Networks Thanks for asking about the Scheduled reports feature. We are working on developing this feature now and planning to start EA in several weeks.
Will the reports allow us to create filters based on Country, or even CATO Regions? Regions like China, where we have different types of licenses, regional and general, would allow us to follow this closely, and taking actions if needed.
Is there any roadmap to enable more filters other than one site or one SDP user only?
José Luis Fernandes Esteves For now, there are no roadmap items for the report features you mentioned. I suggest that you open an RFE. Thanks
